The field for the Kentucky Derby was finalized yesterday, and the Run for the Roses looks as wide open as it's ever been. If you don't want to make the ten hour drive to Louisville, watch the race in style at Penn National Race Course while supporting Jump Street. We'll buy the first round of mint juleps. Cars at Carlisle: Performance & Style

Carlisle is host to some of the biggest car shows in the country every summer, and you could argue that the craziest one of all is Performance and Style. There will be plenty of hot cars there, but this is not just a car show. This is two days of Fast and Furious without the aging, slightly paunchy Vin Diesel. View event details

spotablog

In the last few weeks on the spotoblog, Justin checked out Opening Night (the caps are ours) on City Island and raved about some of Central Pennsylvania's best sticky buns. Meanwhile, Dave stopped into one of Harrisburg's newest restaurants. Here are some recent highlights:

April 17 Senators Preview: Opening Night

There was one glaring omission though, and it absolutely must be fixed. When a batter comes to the plate, nowhere in the stadium does it tell you what he’s already done on the night. The new scoreboard tells you his season stats — not updated in real time — but not what he’s done so far in the game. That’s important. When Marvin Lowrance hypothetically comes up in the eighth inning, I need to know that he’s 2-for-3 with a home run and three RBI. I’m a numbers junky when it comes to baseball, and I know that I won’t get as much in a minor league ballpark as I will if I go to Citizens Bank Park in Philly. Nevertheless, you’ve got to give me the basics. I feel like right now I’ve got the onions and relish but no hot dog.

April 20 Things That Are Awesome and... Harner’s Sticky Buns

When I was younger, Saturday was cleaning day. It still is, but now I don't hate it nearly as much as I used to. Every Saturday morning, my brother and I would be roused by the sound of the vacuum cleaner. We'd spend the rest of the morning helping my mom and dad scrub the house until it met my mother's very high standard of cleanliness. I've now become a bit of a neat freak and embraced ritualistic Saturday morning cleaning, but when I was younger, there was only one thing that could redeem the first few hours of my Saturday; food from Harner's Bakery.
